Cherry Presents: Ehua + CCL w/ Succubass Friday November 25th. 9PM - Late.
We have two rave specialists, Ehua and CCL, coming to Cherry on 11/25. Expect spellbinding percussive twists and turns that will change you on a molecular level in the form of wiggle steppers and deeper wubs. Supported by the Seattle senior rave technician, Succubass that will get the room swirling with some emotive chuggers.
Ehua:
Italian-Ivorian producer and DJ Ehua has been making waves since the release of her 2018 debut EP, ‘Diplozoon’ on Femme Culture. She’s since remixed records for Ninja Tune, played at some of Europe’s most iconic festivals and recently started a residency at Rinse FM, where she explores the percussion-influenced realms of experimental techno each month.
Her most recent releases include ‘Aquamarine’ via Nervous Horizon, an EP inspired by both the colour and motion of water, ‘Venom’, single part of Cutcross’s V/A CXT003 ‘With The Pulse’, ‘Helios’ on Fabric Presents Leon Vynehall and ‘Deepstaria’ via Nervous Horizon latest compilation NH V/A Vol. 4. Away from club music, Ehua also retains a life-long interest in the arts and has composed a series of soundtracks for short films and artistic performances, as well as being part of GRIOT — a collective and influential online media hub based in Italy focusing on arts from Africa and its diaspora.
CCL:
The sonic output of Berlin-based DJ, producer and radio host CCL (they/them) is truly unique. While their sets take you through many different genres, one element clearly remains central: their gift for storytelling within both dancefloor and listening contexts.
Their sounds sway between heavy club materials and delicate musical textures. CCL’s style and technique emphasizes the delicate interplay between weight and weightlessness, velocity and poise, and cathartic intensity and psychedelic lucidity. CCL’s sets can sound like an earth-sized bubble bursting, or a dreamy fog descending, and cathartic feeling. You can hear this in their mixes for Unsound, Discwoman, The Lodge, and in their own productions. Recently they started a monthly residency with Refuge Radio called Liquidtime.
